Hook also explained why the cast was not encouraged to watch the 1999 film before shooting the TV shoot, adding, “I was really disappointed to do anything Sarah Michelle Gellar did. However, I think his good performance was all over my brain and I couldn’t avoid it. … I was told to ‘not go Sarah Michelle Gellar,’ and we didn’t want to copy her already iconic performance.”
