Arrest of New York City tourist faces mutilation after mother reports son to police

Authorities have arrested a suspect in what appeared to be a random attack in a deserted area of ​​New York City.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital the arrest of Joshua Zinberg, 25, on Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say Zinberg, who lives on New York City’s Upper West Side, was identified by his mother, who saw him in police surveillance footage.

He was charged with attempted murder, first and second degree assault and criminal possession of a firearm, according to the NYPD.

On Thursday, footage obtained by Fox News Digital shows Zinberg leaving the police station. In this video, the 25-year-old boy is seen shouting at reporters while saying something trivial.

“Just for the click, huh?” he told reporters.

Zinberg was arrested after his mother confirmed to police that she saw her son on security footage after the incident.

In surveillance footage, obtained by Fox News Digital, Zinberg was seen running through the streets of the Big Apple with a knife in hand.

Earlier, authorities confirmed that a 55-year-old tourist was attacked in broad daylight while walking on the streets of New York City.

The NYPD said the visitor’s ear and left cheek were cut during the brutal attack. The victim was taken to hospital after being stabbed.

Wednesday’s hacking incident happened two days after a knife-wielding man was charged with murdering three people on Monday.

Police arrested Ramon Rivera, 51, an ex-criminal earlier this week after he was allegedly on the run unnecessary stabbing on the other side of Manhattan.

Rivera, who is homeless, has eight previous prison terms and was released from prison just weeks before the knife attack.
