Burglars broke into a building on the royal family’s grounds at Windsor Castle, Fox News Digital confirmed.
The Windsor estate, which houses several members of the royal family and is home to Adelaide Cottage, where Prince William and Kate Middleton live with their three young children, was targeted in October.
“At around 11.45pm on Sunday 13 October, we received a report of a burglary at a property in the Crown Estate off the A308 in Windsor,” Thames Valley Police told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“The criminals entered the farm building and left in a black Izuzu van and a red quad bike. They then left towards Old Windsor/Datchet,” the police continued.
They went on to say, “No one has been arrested yet and the investigation is ongoing.”
The Sun, which reported the news earlier, wrote that William and Middleton, as well as children George, Charlotte and Louis, were all asleep at the time of the burglary.

It is reported that their house is five minutes away from the broken building.
The company says criminals “must have been watching Windsor Castle” to know where the cars are and the best time to try to break in. Alarms sounded in the area, the source explained, but it was reported that the workers were not aware of the matter until they “hit the security barrier” when they left the gate.

“It is necessary to replace the barrier as it is badly damaged,” said the source.

Before the burglary in October, Isolezwe also reported that armed guards were removed from the main gates of the area, which turned out to be a decision taken due to a lack of trained police officers.

In 2022, the family moved from their home in Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage in the countryside of Windsor Castle, several sources say that William and Middleton wanted to give their children a different life than the one they lived in London.

“They’re an outsider family, London just wasn’t working for them,” a source close to the family told People magazine amid the move. “The countryside is their happy place.”

Their cottage is described as a modest four-bedroom property. Built in 1831 by Queen Adelaide, wife of King William IV.
It is a 10 minute walk from there to the castle itself.

In 2021, a man named Jaswant Singh Chail was arrested for breaking into Windsor Castle. He scaled the walls with a full bow on Christmas Day with the intention of killing Queen Elizabeth II. He pleaded guilty, and in 2023, he was sentenced to nine years in prison.
