Sergio Garcia, aiming for the Ryder Cup, is reapplying for DP World Tour membership
Sergio Garcia has reapplied for membership on the DP World Tour with a view to qualifying for next year’s European Ryder Cup team.

The touring season starts this week in Australia, which means Garcia’s suspension will begin immediately.
“Sergio Garcia has submitted his application to return to DP World Tour membership for the 2025 season before the deadline on Sunday, November 17,” a DP World Tour spokesperson said in a statement to Bunkered, the Scottish golf website that first reported Garcia’s move.
Garcia has the most career wins (25) and most points scored (28½) in Ryder Cup history. He was 19 when he made his Ryder Cup debut in 1999 and appeared in his 10th tournament in 2021. Only Lee Westwood and Nick Faldo, who played 11 games, have played more in Europe.
The 2025 event will take place September 26-28 at Bethpage Black in New York. Europe won the trophy in 2023 at the Marco Simone Golf and Country Club outside Rome.
Garcia finished third in the 2024 LIV Golf points race. But to be eligible to compete for Europe in the Ryder Cup, players must be members in good standing with the DP World Tour.
“He thinks he can play. He wants to play. I don’t think he’s talked to me about being an assistant captain, but again, he’ll have to rejoin the tour to be eligible,” said European captain Luke Donald. last month when asked about Garcia. “Of course he’s very interested in that. He understands everything that’s involved and again, the decision has to go to him whether he’s willing to do all that.
“If you fulfill the rules and regulations set by the DP World Tour, you are eligible. There are a lot of LIV guys playing in LIV who are eligible now so I can pick them at will.”
